Taste of Finland
The myths about Finland and the Finnish people are several. For instance, that
- Finnish winters are terribly cold and gloomy.
- Finnish summers are full of light and - mosquitoes!
- Finnish people are serious, reserved and difficult to get to know.
- Finns speak a very difficult language.
- Finns drink a lot and go to the sauna all the time.
Together with Finnish teacher and translator, you will discover whether these stereotypical ideas are correct or not. You will learn about the country and its customs and manners, such as:
- Finnish public holidays and other celebrations
- seasons and nature
- sports, outdoor life and sauna
- greeting, making contact, using names and titles
- Finnish attitude towards small talk
- appointments and punctuality
- visiting people, conversing and listening
- eating, drinking and smoking in Finland
At the end of the session, you can test your knowledge of the Finnish way of life with a funny quiz about stereotyped Finnish reactions.
